Patient who is suffering from one breast cancer is at the risk of contralateral breast cancer.rate of reoccurence of the breast cancer is o.5% per year.To reduce the rate of reoccurence of the breast cancer tamoxifen is given as an adjuvant to the main therapy of the breast cancer.tamoxifen is a anticancer antibiotic.tamoxifen is also having estrogen like action that is lowering of the cholestrol but only after long term use and also bone mineral density is preserved.but the negative effect of tamoxifen on long term use is increased risk of uterine cancer.there is an alternative drug raloxifene which can also be used as preventive measure but it is having some different effects on heart andbones.
